The air in the crypt was thick with dust and the scent of old blood. Shadows stretched long against the stone walls as a huddle of vampires knelt before their sire. The Master's voice echoed, low and commanding, promising glory through destruction. Above them, the town slept unaware, but beneath the floorboards of the library, the seal trembled in anticipation of its breaking.

The hierarchy was rigid, dictated by age and power rather than formal titles. At the apex stood The Master himself, an ancient vampire who had slept beneath the Hellmouth for centuries. Below him were loyal vampires granted permission to feed in the town, often serving as his eyes and ears. This structure relied heavily on fear; disobedience meant death or being turned into a lesser minion known as a Skuller. Their primary goal was to break the seal of the Hellmouth and release the demons trapped within, ushering in an apocalypse. To achieve this, they orchestrated attacks on key figures, including the Slayer and her allies. They utilized intimidation tactics against the town's population to maintain secrecy while preparing for the ritual. Conflict with the Scooby Gang was inevitable once Buffy arrived. The Master viewed the Slayer as a direct threat to his plans. His followers were tasked with hunting her down or distracting her from the final rituals. Ultimately, their efforts failed when Buffy defeated The Master in the crypts beneath the high school library, scattering his remaining forces and ending his reign over Sunnydale's vampire population for that time.
